Overview
TFT-LCD can utilize black, white and other colors according to the purposes.
The Color Filter is a core part which realizes colors in TFT-LCD. The color
of TFT-LCD screen is realized by TFT and the motions of liquid crystal cells
which control the permeability of white-colored light of the Back Light (B/L),
and the mixture of 3 colors (Red, Green & Blue) permeated through the color
filter.
The Color Filter can be produced either by the staining method or the pigment
method according to the materials of the organic filter. It can be also made
by staining, diffusion, electro-deposition or printing method depending on the
way of manufacture. However, it is the pigment diffusion method that the most
commonly used method to manufacture TFT-LCD color filter. A Color Filter (C/F)
substrate consists of C/F pattern which realizes the tone of color, Black Matrix
which partitions R.G.B cells and blocks the light and ITO which gives voltage
liquid crystal cells.
